Summary The Logistics Coordinator, Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating and managing customer requests, ensuring their expectations are met or exceeded, and accurately tracking shipments from pick‑up to delivery. Working in a fast‑paced, challenging environment, the role requires a team‑oriented, customer‑service focused individual with strong system knowledge and vendor capabilities.
Duties & Responsibilities
Dispatch drivers for U.S. domestic shipment pick‑ups and deliveries.
Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and internal policies.
Prioritize time‑sensitive cargo.
Collaborate closely with team members to meet or exceed customer service requirements.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with customers, contractors, and company drivers.
Work directly with customers on the receipt and processing of transportation requests.
Utilize transportation software systems for planning and scheduling.
Handle dispatch with contractors, company drivers, and partner carriers.
Track and trace shipments from pick‑up through delivery, ensuring accurate and up‑to‑date information for customers.
Resolve problems by identifying issues, applying critical thinking, and implementing solutions.
Capture accurate data and enter it into the system.
Communicate effectively with customers, contractors, company drivers, partner carriers, and team members.
Promote the DSV Road Transport brand.
Assist with new account start‑ups.
Adhere to all domestic and international shipping regulations and compliance.
Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications & Work Experience
High school diploma or GED required; logistics or transportation experience preferred.
1–3 years of experience in dispatch, logistics coordination, or a related operational role.
Experience coordinating domestic shipments, dispatching drivers, and tracking freight through delivery.
Familiarity with transportation systems or dispatch software and strong data entry skills.
Basic knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation compliance, or the ability to learn quickly.
Strong customer service, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
Skills & Competencies
Proficient in typing and PC applications, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Strong English language skills; Spanish is a plus.
Intermediate mathematical skills with accurate data handling.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective teamwork.
Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving abilities.
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast‑paced environment.
Flexible and adaptable to changing schedules and operational needs, including non‑standard hours when required.
Dependable, accountable, and committed to meeting expectations.
Physical Demands This position is primarily sedentary and involves extended periods of sitting while working at a computer workstation. The role requires frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, data entry, and operating standard office equipment. The employee must communicate effectively—talking and hearing—to interact with customers, drivers, carriers, and team members via phone, radio, and video conferencing. Occasional standing, walking, bending, or reaching may be required.
Work Environment The role is performed in a combination of office, dispatch center, terminal, and operations environments within a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven setting. Interaction with drivers, dispatch teams, customers, contractors, and partner carriers is regular. Noise levels may be moderate due to vehicle traffic, radios, phones, and ongoing operational activity. The employee may need to be present in or around terminal yards or dock areas with exposure to varying weather conditions. Flexibility is required to support operational needs, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, or non‑standard hours as business demands dictate.
Compensation & Benefits Base pay range: $20.75–$27.75 per hour (actual compensation determined by experience, skills, education, and location).
