Base pay range: $100.00/hr - $110.00/hr

Job Overview The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) seeks a highly qualified Project Manager to provide senior‑level consultative services and technical assistance in project management for program activities. The role involves overseeing DSHS priority initiatives, managing special projects using best practices in coordination with agency business and program units, and ensuring seamless integration of project management processes across multiple initiatives.
The Project Manager will coordinate across numerous related initiatives, develop project management tools, maintain data on critical and major projects, report progress to executive/senior staff, provide recommendations on project management practices, and track the status of key projects and accomplishments. The role also involves working with staff to initiate, sponsor, manage or participate in projects, maximizing the success of multiple and diverse projects with extensive latitude for independent judgment.
Candidate Skills and Qualifications
8+ years required: Ability to research, gather, assemble, correlate and analyze facts; devise solutions to problems; prepare concise reports and analyze complex issues.
8+ years required: Ability to develop and deliver reports identifying gaps in technology and operational effectiveness.
8+ years required: Skilled in effectively mapping business processes, identifying process improvements, and planning and facilitating meetings and group problem solving.
8+ years required: Develops or contributes to statements of work, project charters, design documentation, test plans, risk assessments, project budgets, schedules, work plans, resource requirements, and cost estimates.
8+ years required: Experience developing and maintaining strong relationships with multiple project sponsors and stakeholders; strong communication, presentation, and teamwork skills.
8+ years required: Skilled in project management of multiple projects with experience implementing across large organizations, managing project plans, documenting risks, issues, and contingency plans.
8+ years required: Ensuring resolution of issues and removal of project barriers.
7+ years preferred: Experience developing written materials (briefing documents, administrative reports, PowerPoint presentations) for diverse audiences, including senior and executive management.
5+ years preferred: Ability to appropriately summarize and elevate issues, develop and present weekly status updates in written and verbal formats, and conduct regular project team status meetings; compile and distribute project information, status reports, and budget updates.
