PDW
Performance Drone Works (PDW) builds technologies for the warfighter, by the warfighter. Born out of the Drone Racing League, our roots are competitive, our mindset is tactical, and our mission is clear: deliver purpose-built unmanned systems to those who serve. We are not here to sell vapor; we build and ship real capabilities for real missions.
Now entering a new phase of rapid growth, PDW is scaling its production capabilities and expanding its supply chain infrastructure to support next‑generation drone systems and technologies. We’re looking for a Strategic Buyer who is not only operationally strong, but who can think critically, adapt quickly, and lead through ambiguity.
This role will be central to ensuring material readiness across the product lifecycle—from initial prototyping through production ramp‑up and sustainment. You’ll work closely with Engineering, Operations, and Program teams to align sourcing strategies with evolving product needs, manage supplier performance, and ensure seamless execution against build plans.
Ideal candidates bring cross‑functional experience in supply chain or procurement, are comfortable sourcing across diverse commodities, and can lead with both strategic vision and tactical follow‑through.
What You’ll Do
Own end‑to‑end sourcing and procurement activities across multiple commodity categories, including mechanical, electrical, and complex assemblies
Lead supplier strategy, relationship management, and performance oversight to ensure alignment with PDW’s cost, quality, and delivery objectives
Collaborate cross‑functionally with Engineering, Operations, and Program teams to translate requirements into executable sourcing and fulfillment plans
Identify and mitigate supply chain risks through strategic planning, dual sourcing, and proactive engagement with internal stakeholders and external partners
Support the full product lifecycle — from early‑stage prototyping and NPI through production scaling and end‑of‑life management
Negotiate pricing, terms, and long‑term agreements with suppliers to optimize total cost of ownership (TCO) and drive value
Use data to guide decisions, identify trends, and propose improvements to procurement processes, systems, and tools
Actively participate in continuous improvement efforts, helping evolve PDW’s sourcing strategies and operational workflows
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (including ITAR) and internal quality standards throughout the supply base
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
3+ years of experience in procurement or supply chain execution across a range of commodities (mechanical, electrical, or complex assemblies)
Demonstrated ability to manage supplier relationships, negotiate pricing and terms, and deliver results across cost, quality, and lead time
Strategic mindset with the ability to adapt sourcing strategies based on shifting priorities, risk factors, or business requirements
Strong cross‑functional communication and collaboration skills — able to work seamlessly with Engineering, Operations, Finance, and Program teams
Confident decision‑maker in ambiguous or fast‑moving situations; comfortable taking initiative and navigating tradeoffs
Familiarity with full product lifecycle support, including NPI, production scaling, and end‑of‑life transitions
Comfortable working with ERP and MRP systems to manage purchasing activities; NetSuite experience is a plus
Knowledge of compliance and regulatory frameworks (e.g., ITAR, ISO/AS standards) or a willingness to quickly ramp up
Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, climb, and move about regularly throughout the day and lift / carry up to 25 pounds. Must have manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment.
In compliance with International Traffic Arms Regulations (ITAR), candidates must be U.S. Citizens, U.S. Permanent Residents (Green Card holders) or individuals granted asylee/refugee status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
