We are looking for
entry-level or early-career
(3 to 7 years)
acoustical consultants
in our
San Francisco, San Jose, or Los Angeles
offices. Applicants should be excited about the field and be interested in learning quickly, taking initiative, and engaging with colleagues and clients.
Working at Salter offers opportunities for self-starters to quickly contribute to the firm and to work on a wide variety of projects. This includes multi-family residences, educational facilities, hospitals, performing arts facilities, and offices.
Our services include sound isolation, room acoustics, MEP system noise and vibration, environmental noise analyses, and vibration studies. We work with architects, building owners, and other consultants on issues relating to sound and vibration in buildings.
We provide direction and on-the-job training, and expect a high degree of independence. We are looking for people who can take on tasks and think critically about next steps. This position requires attention to detail, report writing, and interaction with clients.
Responsibilities
Analyzing project drawings, such as architectural, mechanical, and structural plans
Developing recommendations for architects and consultants in other disciplines
Conducting acoustical measurements and analyzing data for environmental noise and vibration, HVAC noise, reverberation times, reflection patterns, and sound isolation
Presenting technical information in clear language and graphics
Visiting construction sites, using ladders, carrying equipment, and occasional collection of data late night or early morning
Full payment of medical and dental insurance premiums (for employee and dependents)
Employer contributions to employee 401(k) accounts
Employee stock ownership plan (ESOP)

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a field related to acoustics and/or demonstrated serious interest/background in acoustics
Ability to learn and work independently
Good written and verbal communication skills
Familiarity with standard Microsoft Office software (e.g., Word, Excel)
Acoustical modeling software experience a plus
CAD and/or Revit experience a plus
Entry-level consultants: $68,000 to $74,000
Early-career consultants: $90,000 to $100,000
In addition to the above base salary, there is participation in the performance-informed bonus plans.
