NICU Registered Nurse Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of recent NICU RN experience in a Level III/IV NICU
Active Massachusetts RN license (required prior to start)
BLS and NRP certifications required; NRP Advanced and Infant Driven Feeding Training preferred
Proficiency with Epic charting system
Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
Must pass Telemetry exam during orientation (score of 80% or higher)
Completion of pre-start and orientation modules as assigned
NICU RN Responsibilities
Provide high-quality, compassionate care to neonates and infants in a Level III/IV NICU
Monitor, assess, and document patient status and progress using Epic EHR
Administer medications, blood products, and specialized therapies (high-frequency ventilation, nitric oxide, therapeutic hypothermia)
Perform and assist with procedures: arterial line management, central line care, lumbar puncture, feeding tube placement
Educate and support families regarding patient care and progress
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (respiratory therapy, radiology, social services)
Maintain strict infection control and isolation protocols
Participate in pre- and post-operative care for neonates with surgical interventions
