Job Summary As Senior Electrical Engineer, you will engage in challenging assignments, contributing to the design and implementation of solutions for projects including utility infrastructure, renewable energy facilities, and critical data center applications.

Your Impact You will work on a diverse range of projects that include utility substation design, renewable energy projects such as wind, solar, and battery energy storage systems (BESS).

On a typical day, you will:

Design and develop high-voltage substations (12kV – 345kV) including physical layout, protection & control, grounding, and structural components.

Prepare engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications for new and existing substations.

Develop general arrangements, conduit layouts, grounding plans, buswork layouts, and equipment elevations.

Select and specify high-voltage equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers, disconnect switches, and capacitor banks.

Design relay protection and control schemes for substations including one-line diagrams, threeline diagrams, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.

Specify protective relays, SCADA & RTU equipment, and network communication devices.

Develop relay settings, data maps, and network configuration files. • Coordinate with utilities and clients to ensure relay settings and control logic meet system requirements.

Perform short circuit analysis, load flow studies, arc flash studies, and grounding calculations.

Conduct insulation coordination and lightning protection analysis for substation components.

Work closely with civil, structural, and electrical engineers, and project managers to ensure seamless project execution.

Prepare cost estimates, schedules, and procurement documentation for substation projects.

Participate in client meetings, site visits, and design reviews.

Provide engineering support during substation construction, testing, and commissioning.

Ensure that substation designs meet all applicable regulatory, safety, and environmental requirements, and ensure compliance with NEC, NESC, IEEE, ANSI, and other industry standards.

Troubleshoot and resolve design-related field issues.

Required skills and qualifications

B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology, with 5+ years of relevant experience.

Experience in utility substation design and renewable energy systems (wind, solar, and BESS).

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or Adobe, and electrical design software.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

Professional Engineer license preferred.
