Territory Development Manager – Unilever Food Solutions

Who We Are Unilever Food Solutions (UFS) is the €3bn+ foodservice division of Unilever. We lead the dynamic Food Service market across 72 countries, marketing professional food and beverage products and services to operators, distributors, and consumers. UFS is accelerating its digital transformation to fuel growth through data‑driven, technology‑enabled Go‑to‑Market (GtM) capabilities, with a global ambition to reach 3 million operators by 2030.
Purpose of the Role As a Territory Development Manager you will drive sustainable business growth by engaging Operators, Chains, and Trade Partners. You will use data and CRM tools to plan and execute sales calls, establish yourself as a valuable partner, and grow market share in your territory. Your accountabilities include delivering
Sales Growth, Reach & Penetration, Digital Engagement, and Customer Presentations
through multi‑touchpoint contact strategies online and face‑to‑face. You will provide virtual culinary consultations to targeted operators and generate demand for UFS products.
Pay and Benefits Pay:
$80,000 – $90,000 (salary varies by experience and skills).
Bonus:
This position is bonus eligible.
Long‑Term Incentive (LTI):
This position is LTI eligible.
Demand Creation Engage with Local Chain Accounts and Operator Customers, accountable for business targets: Turnover, Reach & Penetration, Digital, Fully Profiled Operators, Demos, Sampling, and more. Implement a full Key Account Management approach, execute CBP, Win & Retain funnel, Contact Matrix, and multi‑touchpoint contact strategies with 20% online and 80% face‑to‑face calls.
Key Activities
Use data to convert business insights into activation solution selling.
Utilize market trends to create concept solution selling.
Gain insight and lead customers to the right solution.
Network with key customer stakeholders to engage decision makers.
Prepare visits with solution recommendations and utilize CRM (Salesforce) to manage workflow and market funnel.
Conduct F2F and virtual sampling, ideation, cooking demos to secure new opportunities or increase volume usage.
Follow up on previous calls to ensure opportunities progress to sale close.
Secure and coordinate customer orders each month to keep growth on target.
Meet with distributors/trade partners to expand assortment, align priorities, and source leads for customer follow‑through.
Build and nurture relationships with local distributor sales reps (DSRs).
Implement contact matrix for key trade customers with squad approach for effective customer management.
Engage trade customers to gain alignment for secondary sales data (SSD).
Implement promotions with customer related to key seasons and events.
Ensure timely submission and settlement of claims.
Critical Skills Required for the Role
You are a hunter with big ambition, seeking effective ways to create new demand (70% hunting vs 30% farming).
Fast adopter of contemporary technology, using AI in day‑to‑day life; highly proficient in MS Office, Power BI, and Excel.
Entrepreneurial and proactively create mutually beneficial solutions for UFS and customers.
Curious and constantly learning from the market to stay ahead of food trends.
Knowledgeable in selling premium brands with superiority selling stories and culinary solutions outside center of the plate.
Bilingual is a plus (Spanish, Mandarin).
Essential Experiences
CPG Foodservice Sales Experience (B2B Sales).
Culinary/Chef Selling Experience.
Network of Existing Foodservice Operator Partners.
Distributor Sales or Ingredient Sales or Broker Sales.
CRM Experience (Salesforce).
Operator Experience.
Market/Geographical Knowledge.
Food University Background (CIA, Food & Hospitality).
