The role focuses on managing event operations, supervising staff, and serving as the primary administrator for the scheduling and space management system. While academic scheduling support remains a responsibility, it is secondary to the coordination of non-academic events and the optimization of campus spaces for internal and external clients.Major Duties and Responsibilities:* Oversee the University’s Events and Conference department, including coordination of logistics, vendor relations, and client communications for internal and external events.* Serve as the primary system administrator for the scheduling and space management system ensuring accurate space data and efficient event scheduling.* Monitor and improve processes for event planning, customer service, and resource allocation to enhance client satisfaction and operational efficiency.* Collaborate with campus partners such as IT, Campus Safety, Physical Plant, and other university departments to arrange for maintenance details and coordination within all classrooms, conference rooms, communal areas, and event spaces.* Supervise event staff and student employees, including hiring, training, and performance management.* Assist in preparing and updating academic course assignments, while maintaining compliance with academic calendar deadlines and institutional policies, in collaboration with department chairs and program coordinators.* Generate basic reports on classroom usage and scheduling accuracy.* Perform other duties as necessary to support the needs of the Department and the University’s mission.Qualifications:* High school diploma or GED required, Bachelor's degree preferred.* Experience working in a customer service field and/or experience in events. Demonstrable examples of managing a small staff.* Able to demonstrate a track record of cultural sensitivity in collaborative settings.* Possesses proven management skills including planning, supervision, mentoring, and coaching.* Able to think critically, using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.Working Conditions:Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening hours.
