Qualifications

Minimum: Bachelor's degree in counseling or a related field and 2 years of professional experience.

Preferred: Master's degree.

Position Summary Assist in the development and implementation of all services related to academic planning, academic support, academic major and career counseling, academic monitoring, and personal development for student-athletes. Ensure compliance with NCAA, SEC, and institutional rules compliance in the area of academic counseling.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies

Ability to monitor student progress and coordinate class schedules, tutorial sessions, and development.

Ability to communicate with coaches, students, tutors, and professors.

Ability to provide academic support and counseling regarding students' courses and progress toward graduation.

Strong communication skills.

Physical Demands

Stand, walk, use hands and reach with arms.

Sit for long periods of time.

Talk and hear.

Lift approximately 25 lbs.

Close and distance vision.

Driving.

Duties and Responsibilities

Serve as the primary academic counselor for Football (WR/TE/QB) & MW Golf.

Monitor academic progress of student-athletes, including weekly meetings, daily monitoring of class attendance, academic appointment attendance, and grades.

Daily communication with students, coaches, instructors, administrations, parents, and guardians regarding students' progress toward degree and eligibility.

Assist in developing and implementing all services related to academic planning, academic support, major selection, career counseling, academic monitoring, and personal development of student-athletes.

Ensure compliance with UGA, UGAAA, SEC, and NCAA rules and regulations pertaining to academic honesty, progress toward degree, and eligibility.

Participate in student-athlete recruiting and faculty engagement events, including some evenings and weekends throughout the year.

Ensure compliance with NCAA, SEC, and institutional rules and regulations pertaining to academic advising.

Other duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Academic Counseling.
