Position Purpose As an Examiner, you will conduct Compensation & Pension (C&P) examinations for veterans applying for disability compensation from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in relation to their in-service injury claims. The role involves reviewing the claim, performing focused assessments of claimed injuries, reviewing medical records, and potentially rendering a medical opinion based on the record review and completed C&P exam. Charting from home may be required. Each examiner plays a vital role in the overall experience of the veteran. By providing an exceptional experience during these examinations we aim to positively impact each veteran.

Pay Base + Incentive: $136,864.00 - $166,864.00 per year.

Job Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive medical disability examinations of veterans, including reviewing medical history, performing physical examinations, and assessing impact of disabilities on daily life and functional abilities. 10% travel required to other LSGS clinics.

Review and analyze medical records, diagnostic test results, and other documentation to gain a comprehensive understanding of the veteran’s medical history and health condition.

Render objective medical opinions regarding the extent of the veteran’s health issues and their impact on ability to work and daily activities.

Understand and work in case management system, including organizing workload, submitting findings, and corresponding with the Quality Assurance Team.

Collaborate with healthcare professionals, specialists, and experts to obtain additional medical information and insights.

Document examination findings accurately in reports following VA guidelines and formats, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.

Partner with all Loyal Source departments to gain support and use resources that help complete tasks and meet deadlines.

Manage time effectively and confirm availability and scheduling for all C&P exams.

Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and standards related to disability examinations.

Work collaboratively with the QA team to submit thorough and accurate examination findings.

Maintain compliance with all VA training requirements and remain updated on VA MDE program requirements.

Safeguard confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA and privacy protocols.

Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program.

Hold a valid, unrestricted PA license and be authorized to practice in all states and territories.

At least one year of experience working as a Physician Assistant.

Preferred experience conducting medical disability examinations or a related field.

Basic Life Support certification required.

Preferred military experience or familiarity with veteran communities.

Completion of specialized training in Medical Disability Evaluations, occupational health, or related areas is advantageous.

Proficient in comprehensive medical assessments, interpreting diagnostic tests, and formulating evidence-based opinions.

Detail-oriented focus on accuracy and data quality aligned with LS and VA standards.

Authorized to work in the United States and meet federal contractor requirements.

Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense, carry out detailed instructions, and deal with problems involving a few variables.

Technological Ability Competent in MS Word, Outlook, Adobe PDF, web-based platforms, and electronic medical record systems. Familiarity with Teams and learning management systems is preferred.

Physical Requirements Prolonged periods standing and sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must lift up to 15 pounds and have full range of motion to conduct comprehensive physical examinations.

Travel Requirements 10% travel to support other clinics, with additional travel for training or company events.
