Position Purpose

As an Examiner, you will conduct Compensation & Pension (C&P) Examinations for Veterans applying for disability compensation from the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) regarding their in‑service injury claims. The role involves reviewing the claim, performing focused assessments of claimed injuries, reviewing medical records, and potentially rendering a medical opinion based on the record review and completed C&P exam. Charting from home may be required. Each examiner plays a vital role in the overall experience of the Veteran; by providing an exceptional experience we aim to positively impact each Veteran.

Pay: Base + Incentive = $136,864.00 - $166,864.00 a year

Job Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive medical disability examinations, including reviewing medical history, performing physical examinations, and assessing the impact of disabilities on daily life and functional abilities. 10% travel required to support other LSGS Clinics.

Review and analyze medical records, diagnostic test results, and other pertinent documentation to gain a comprehensive understanding of the veteran’s medical history and health condition.

Render objective medical opinions based on examination findings and record review, providing unbiased, evidence‑based assessments of the extent of the veteran’s health issues and their impact on work and daily activities.

Use the case management system to organize workload, submit examination findings, and correspond with the Quality Assurance Team.

Collaborate with healthcare professionals, specialists, and experts to obtain additional medical information and insights.

Document examination findings accurately in medical opinions and recommendations following VA guidelines and formats.

Partner with all Loyal Source departments to gain support and use resources for task completion and deadline management.

Manage time effectively, confirming availability and scheduling for all C&P exams.

Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards related to disability examinations.

Submit thorough and accurate examination findings in collaboration with the QA team.

Maintain compliance with all VA training requirements and stay updated on VA Medical Disability Evaluation program requirements.

Safeguard confidentiality of all patient information and examination results in accordance with privacy and security protocols, including annual HIPAA compliance assessment.

Please note that this position does not involve prescribing or treatment planning.

Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program and hold a valid, unrestricted PA license in any of the 50 States, District of Columbia, or U.S. territories.

Minimum of 1 year of experience as a PA.

Experience in conducting medical disability examinations or a related field is preferred.

Basic Life Support certification, including renewals.

Previous military experience or familiarity with the military/veteran communities is preferred.

Completion of specialized training or continuing education in Medical Disability Evaluations or related areas is advantageous.

Demonstrated proficiency in comprehensive medical assessments, interpreting diagnostic tests, and formulating evidence‑based opinions.

Empathy and compassionate approach toward patients, ensuring a respectful and patient‑centered evaluation process.

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to interpret complex medical information.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex medical concepts clearly.

Unwavering commitment to ethics, integrity, and fairness in disability evaluations.

Detail‑oriented mindset focused on accuracy and data quality aligned with LS and VA standards.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team‑oriented environment.

Excellent organizational and time‑management skills to manage multiple initiatives in a fast‑paced environment.

Strong customer focus and sense of urgency.

Authorized to work in the United States, including compliance with federal contractor requirements.

Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding, carry out detailed instructions, and solve problems involving a few variables.

Technological Ability Competent with MS Word, MS Outlook, Adobe PDF, web‑based platforms, electronic medical records systems, and familiar with Teams and web‑based instructional/learning management systems (preferred).

Physical Requirements Prolonged periods standing and sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times and perform required physical functions including seeing, hearing, smelling, bending, stretching, and full range of motion.

Travel Requirements 10% travel required to support other clinics; additional travel for training or company events.
