As a Patient Financial Service Representative on the Concussion Clinic team, you will be an integral part of the patient’s Banner experience, providing excellent customer service and patient care. Responsibilities include checking‑in/out patients, chart preparation, collecting co‑pays, making reminder calls, and more. Medical front office experience is preferred.
Position Summary This position coordinates a smooth patient flow process by answering phones, scheduling appointments, handling registration and insurance data, verifying coverage, collecting liability, and ensuring financial guidance. It also posts patients at the point of service and releases information in compliance with policies.
Core Functions
Performs registration/check‑in processes, including data entry, providing intake forms, obtaining signatures, and generating patient summaries.
Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits, assists with pre‑certification, referrals, and authorizations.
Calculates and collects patient liability, explains policies, and offers alternative payment arrangements.
Enters payments/charges and reconciles daily, balances cash drawer, and prepares bank deposits.
Schedules office visits and procedures to maximize reimbursement; confirms appointments.
Communicates proactively with patients, families, providers, and internal staff to optimize patient flow.
Responds to medical record requests per policies and laws.
Provides assorted patient services such as escorting, taking vitals, assisting in treatment, and ordering supplies.
Works independently in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment, prioritizing tasks and applying sound judgment.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Knowledge of patient financial services, collections, or insurance processes (typically 1+ year of experience). Ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; proficient with common office software (word processing, spreadsheets, database).
Should meet Arizona background check requirements as applicable to specific clinical settings.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Banner’s systems and processes.
Cash collections experience.
