Responsibilities The College of Social Sciences and Public Policy at Florida State University invites applications for Specialized Teaching Faculty (non-tenure track teaching position) in the field of Interdisciplinary Social Science (ISS). This is a unique position designed to integrate disciplinary education and related activities within the College. The successful applicant will work with faculty in several disciplines to create and teach courses for students majoring in Interdisciplinary Social Science. A dominant skill is to demonstrate how insights from multiple disciplines bring value to the analysis of social issues, and to emphasize evidence based learning and decision making.

Additional responsibilities will include mentoring and advising students, engaging ISS majors in undergraduate research and policy seminars, internship opportunities and similar activities.

Qualifications

Applicants should hold a PhD in one of the disciplines of social science and have teaching and research experience.

The successful applicant will have a strong interdisciplinary orientation grounded in one social science discipline, preferably Sociology.

Preferred qualifications include demonstrated commitment to and success in teaching undergraduates, as well as experience with contemporary instructional technology and on-line teaching applications.
