Schedule: Full Time, Nights (3x12, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)

Unit: 2 CUB (Cardiac Universal Bed)

Location: Lakeway, Texas

Bed Count: 20

Patient Population

Cardiac and Vascular: CHF, Immediate post‑op heart bypass and valves (Cardiac Universal Bed model: Care for Telemetry, PCU, ICU and CV patients)

Patient Ratios

1:4 (Telemetry)

1:3 (PCU)

1:2 (ICU)

1:1 (Immediate post‑op) or unstable ICY patients connected to specialized devices

Department Specifics

Skills leveling, Caring for ICU Devices (Impella, IABP, CRRT, EKOS, lumbar drain)

Job Summary As a Registered Nurse, oversee patient care using a professional practice model. Responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses. Secure patient travel. Know about patient needs in healthcare. Help patients and prevent issues. Follow the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegate tasks based on condition and team competencies.

Essential Functions of the Role

Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs.

Create, implement, and evaluate care plans.

Adjust plans to reach desired outcomes.

Build relationships, manage discomfort, and stay professional in therapeutic connections with patients and families.

Create care plans reflecting values to aid in resolving issues.

Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members.

Empower them with knowledge for better healthcare choices.

Assess and document learning needs regularly.

Work with colleagues and community to create a care plan.

Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly.

Use different strategies for problem‑solving with patients, families, and staff.

Recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery.

Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, and commit to growth.

Contribute to peers’ development and show community service commitment.

Key Success Factors

A deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, as well as procedures.

Knowledge of nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines in the area.

Understanding of hospital procedures and rules.

Proficiency in medical terminology focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common meds, and side effects.

Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.

Exceptional communication skills, allowing for clear expression of thoughts verbally and in writing.

Positive social skills to facilitate interactions with a diverse range of parties.

Excellent problem‑solving capabilities, driving effective critical thinking.

Basic computer skills, encompassing Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

Minimum 2 years RN experience in CVICU or CVPCU.

Specialized field of study in nursing.

RN license.

BLS certification or obtain within 30 days of starting.
