Reports To Sensational Day Camp Coordinator

Position Overview The Speech Therapist provides speech and language services to campers, supporting their Extended School Year (ESY) IEP goals. This role includes direct therapy in individual and small group settings, monitoring progress, and documenting outcomes for camper reports. The Speech Therapist also collaborates with staff to model strategies and support camper success throughout the day.

Key Responsibilities

Provide individual and small group speech therapy to campers with communication goals

Review camper records to plan and tailor therapy activities

Collect and maintain data on camper progress for reports

Model therapy strategies for counselors and provide recommendations

Assist campers with physical and personal care needs as needed

Participate in training including CPI, CPR, and first aid

Respond to camper and staff emergencies, incidents, and security issues

Promote a positive, professional image of the camp and the Achievement Centers for Children

Qualifications

Licensed Speech Therapist

Minimum 1 year experience working with children with autism or other special needs

Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills

Professional, flexible, enthusiastic, and detail-oriented

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in specialized settings or camps for children with autism

Previous school or camp experience with children with special needs

Physical Demands

Active participation in outdoor camp activities, including high temperatures

Assisting campers in and out of wheelchairs, feeding, and toileting

Supervising and assisting campers in the pool
