Registered Nurse (Experience) – Duke University Hospital – 9300 Medical Oncology – All Shifts Available 9300 Medical Oncology

at Duke University Hospital provides care for patients with solid tumors from new diagnosis to end of life. Staff on 9300 provide cutting‑edge therapy, including chemotherapy and research studies, and are experts at palliative and end‑of‑life care. The 9300 Medical Oncology unit is a 31‑bed, fast‑paced environment constructed of an elite team of enthusiastic medical oncology registered nurses and nursing care assistants. Our staff have strong assessment skills, value teamwork, and strive to provide excellent patient care. The well‑being of our patients is a top priority. If you’re seeking to gain skills‑sets that will set a solid foundation for your career, the medical oncology unit may be a fit for you. The unit is eligible for a $15,000 sign‑on bonus incentive. It requires one year or more of RN experience and is new to Duke.

Job Summary As a Clinical Nurse with Duke University Health System, you will prioritize providing service while caring for the whole person in a patient‑centered atmosphere. The RN is responsible for providing and supervising direct and indirect total nursing care responsibilities and utilizing the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating) to achieve the nursing department’s goals. Plan and provide advanced and/or specialized nursing care for patients guided by the DUHS Professional Practice model. Participate in the clinical ladder program, educational activities, departmental committees, research projects, or other health‑related projects as assigned.

Work Schedule 3‑12 hour shifts – Day, Night or Rotating available.

Work Performed Clinical Nurses plan, provide, supervise and document professional nursing care utilizing the nursing process for patients following physician orders and established policies and procedures. Use professional nursing judgment to individualize the plan of care based on assessing the patient’s baseline needs and response to care. Delegate tasks and supervise the activities of other licensed and unlicensed care providers. Assist other nursing personnel in delivering nursing care and act as a team leader or charge nurse for a group of patients or an entire unit as assigned. Monitor and initiate corrective action to maintain the environment of care, including equipment and material resources. Participate in professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs, and seeking appropriate assistance or educational offerings. Act as a preceptor and support the development of other staff and formal learners. Participate in identifying clinical or operational performance improvement opportunities and performance improvement activities. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Minimum Qualifications Education Graduation from an accredited BSN or Associate’s Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program. All registered nurses without a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and complete the program within five years of their start date.

Degrees, Licensures, Certifications Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.
