Job Summary As a Clinical Nurse with Duke University Health System, you will provide and supervise total nursing care, utilizing the nursing process to achieve the department’s goals. You will plan and deliver advanced nursing care guided by the DUHS Professional Practice model, participate in educational initiatives, committees, research projects, or other health‑related activities as assigned.
Work Schedule 3–12 hour shifts – Day, Night, or Rotating (All shifts available).
Work Performed
Plan, provide, supervise, and document professional nursing care for patients following physician orders and established policies.
Use professional judgment to individualize care plans based on patient assessment.
Delegate tasks and supervise licensed and unlicensed care providers.
Assist nursing personnel, act as a team leader or charge nurse for a group of patients or a unit when assigned.
Monitor and initiate corrective actions to maintain the environment of care, including equipment and material resources.
Participate in professional development and maintain required competencies.
Act as a preceptor and support development of other staff and formal learners.
Identify clinical or operational performance improvement opportunities and participate in improvement activities.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Minimum Qualifications Education Graduation from an accredited BSN or Associate’s Degree in Nursing program (or Nursing Diploma). Registered nurses without a bachelor’s degree must enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of start date and complete it within five years.
Licensure & Certifications Current or compact R.N. licensure in North Carolina. BLS required.
Sign‑On Bonus Eligible for a $15,000 sign‑on bonus incentive. Requires one year or more of R.N. experience and is new to Duke.
