Responsibilities
Provide direct care and support to people with developmental disabilities.
Acceptance of individuality by encouraging, providing positive reinforcement, praise, and positive interactions.
Offer frequent praise and positive rewards.
Implement growth‑oriented goals based on each person’s choices.
Teach focused on individual strengths and abilities, not weaknesses.
Teach new skills rather than criticize current habits.
Provide accountability when appropriate.
Discuss specific choices and natural consequences.
Model good decision‑making processes.
Allow growth mistakes.
Assist with personal health and safety: exercise, nutrition, medication, appointments, emergencies.
Assist with hygiene: bathing, toileting, dressing, oral hygiene.
Assist with finances: budgeting, cash transactions, banking.
Assist with food, clothing, shelter: meal planning, grocery shopping, laundry, home maintenance.
Assist with community access and leisure activities.
Document daily interactions, goals, medical issues, medication, behavior.
Qualifications Must be 18 years or older. Medication certification with nurse sign‑off completed. An additional $1/hour is earned upon completion of medication certification.
Benefits Benefits after the first 60 days for employees working at least 30 hours per week: medical, dental, life insurance, 401(k), and paid time off.
Bonus Bonus available: $1,000 paid in installments after 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year of employment.
