Responsibilities
Support mechanical design of electro-mechanical systems including actuators, sensors, machined, molded, and sheet-metal components
Drive DFM/DFX initiatives to optimize mechanical designs for manufacturability, assembly, reliability, and cost
Work directly with suppliers to ensure clear understanding of design intent, specifications, and qualification requirements
Perform and review tolerance analysis, stack-ups, and risk assessments
Define and improve processes for New Product Introduction (NPI) and engineering change management
Create and maintain clear engineering documentation including 2D drawings, SOPs, and ECOs
Collaborate with global and cross-functional teams to align design and supplier activities with program goals

What will your role be? We are looking for a talented Mechanical DFM Engineer to support the design, industrialization, and production of electro-mechanical products. In this role, you will coordinate and facilitate collaboration between the Design Office, manufacturing partners, and suppliers to ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability, quality, cost, and schedule.
You will play a critical role in taking products from concept through production launch, focusing on Design for Manufacturing (DFM/DFX), tolerance analysis, validation, and supplier readiness. This position requires strong hands‑on mechanical engineering fundamentals, supplier engagement, and cross-functional collaboration.
This role requires 3 days onsite per week (mandatory) in East Providence, Rhode Island.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
5+ years of experience in mechanical product development, DFM/DFX, or design engineering, taking products from concept to production
Strong engineering fundamentals in solid mechanics, materials, mechanism design, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and manufacturing processes
Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred) and creation of detailed 2D drawings
Experience with DFM/DFA, tolerance analysis, FMEA, root cause analysis, and Design of Experiments
Hands‑on experience running and interpreting FEA (CFD experience a plus)
Experience working directly with suppliers and manufacturing partners
Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail
Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and fast‑paced environments
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational, prioritization, and problem‑solving skills
