Position:
Part‑Time Nurse Practitioner
in Addiction Medicine at Comprehensive Treatment Centers.
Setting Outpatient Medication‑Assisted Treatment (MAT) Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) providing compassionate, high‑quality counseling, therapy, medication, and guidance to patients seeking recovery from Opioid Use Disorder.
Location Calais Comprehensive Treatment Center, 12 Beech Street, Calais, Maine 04619.
Schedule Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 6 AM; up to 20 hours per week depending on clinic needs.
About the Role The Nurse Practitioner provides advanced nursing care under the supervision of the Medical Director and may also be directed by the Nurse Supervisor for the clinic under state licensure guidelines. Responsibilities include evaluating and monitoring treatment of patients as part of a healthcare team, prescribing medication as allowed by state regulation, and collaborating with clinic leadership to optimize quality and efficiency.
Responsibilities
Provide initial and annual history and physical evaluations, assess eligibility for treatment, and evaluate patients’ history of opioid dependence.
Order and review appropriate laboratory studies, providing necessary education, referral, and follow‑up services.
Monitor treatment plans of high‑risk patients.
Prescribe medication for substance abuse treatment as allowed by state regulation.
Consult and collaborate with the Medical Director to plan and implement care according to Nurse Practitioner Guidelines.
Report and document significant patient issues and adverse events.
Communicate pertinent information to appropriate health‑care team members.
Collaborate with the Nurse Supervisor to ensure program and employee activities comply with all laws and clinic compliance policies and standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum of 1 year of experience as a practicing nurse practitioner preferred.
Previous experience in addiction recovery or behavioral health settings (outpatient, residential, or correctional facilities) preferred.
Familiarity with MAT, including methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone.
Familiarity with state regulatory standards (e.g., 42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA, Joint Commission standards).
No history of alcohol or drug misuse for a period of three years before employment.
Licenses/Designations/Certifications
Board Certified Nurse Practitioner.
Licensed to practice in the state in which the facility operates.
DEA license.
