Overview This is a full‑time position with the Outpatient Methodist Podiatry Team. The Athletic Trainer will work within the podiatry team in an outpatient clinic under the supervision of the clinic manager and providers. The ATC performs duties associated with direct patient care in accordance with organization standards, assisting providers with in‑office procedures, treatments, casting, patient education, and efficient patient flow. The ATC may perform computerized provider order entry per provider. The ATC participates in decision‑making, teaching, mentoring, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to advance the patient plan of care, achieve set outcomes, and enhance operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Rooming: vitals, history, physical exam, determine if x‑rays are needed, present to physician.
Place needed orders per provider (PT, MRI/CT, etc.).
Prepare in‑office procedures (injections, aspirations, ultrasound exams, PRP, etc.).
Global period patients: complete history, physical examination, and plan of care based on physician recommendations.
Triage and address patient calls and messaging.
Obtain prior authorization per provider request.
Manage paperwork including FMLA, disability, workers’ comp, etc.
Cast/splint.
Staple or stitch removal.
Wound care.
Home exercise programs.
Patient education.
DME.
Clinical/Procedure chart preparation.
Scheduling assistance as needed.
Medical instrumentation logistics.
Prescription education and review.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Athletic Training.
Indiana State Athletic Training licensure or eligibility.
Board of Certification (BOC) Certified Athletic Trainer.
AHA BLS for healthcare providers or Red Cross Professional Rescuer.
