Registered Nurse II – Children’s After Hours and Specialty Clinics (North Charleston) MUSC Children’s After Hours and Specialty Clinics are located at Summey Medical Pavilion in North Charleston. We are a pediatric outpatient clinic that falls under the Shawn Jenkin’s Children’s Hospital at MUSC.

During the day, we host a variety of pediatric subspecialists such as pediatric orthopedics, cardiology, and pulmonary, among others. In addition, we provide a walk‑in After Hours Care, which is a direct extension of our pediatric emergency department, serving our community when most pediatricians are closed.

Schedule

Specialty Clinics: Monday‑Friday 8 am – 4:30 pm

After Hours Care: Monday‑Friday 3 pm – 10 pm, 12 pm – 7 pm on weekends and holidays

Job Summary / Purpose Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse II provides individualized, goal‑directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level, utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and collaborates with other members of the health‑care team to achieve desired results.

Minimum Training and Education Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred. RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma in nursing must be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and subsequently obtain a BSN within four years of hire or reclassification. A minimum of one year of experience as a registered nurse is required.

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required: certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

Physical Requirements Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, working indoors and outdoors, from elevated areas, in confined spaces, performing kneeling positions, bending and twisting at the waist, reaching overhead, repetitive hand/wrist/elbow motions, lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs unassisted, maintaining vision and hearing acuity, dealing with stressful situations, working rotating shifts, overtime, latex‑safe environment, and respirator use when required.
