Job Description Summary:
MUSC Children’s After Hours and Specialty Clinics provide pediatric outpatient care and walk‑in after‑hours care under the Shawn Jenkin’s Children’s Hospital at MUSC. This PRN position consists of one 8‑hour after‑hours shift per week, including two weekend shifts within each six‑week scheduling period.
Schedule
Specialty clinics operate M‑F 8 AM – 4:30 PM.
After‑hours clinic: Mon‑Fri 3 PM – 10 PM; Sat‑Sun 12 PM – 7 PM.
Responsibilities Provides nursing care to patients using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation). Directs and leads other assigned team members and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to provide age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with nursing standards. Provides patient/family centered care, including assessment, development of nursing diagnoses, outcome identification, planning, implementation of interventions, coordination of care, health teaching, promotion, and evaluation of goals. Maintains a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment, ensuring patient privacy and respectful professional behavior. Participates in shared governance, peer review, and professional development, promoting leadership and clinical excellence. Coordinates effective delivery of patient care services through application of care management principles. Identifies clinical priorities and initiates action to improve patient outcomes.
Minimum Education and Requirements
Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred.
RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma must complete BSN within four years.
Minimum of one year of RN work experience.
Licensed as an RN by South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
Current AHA BLS or American Red Cross BLS certification.
Physical Requirements Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, working indoors and outdoors, from elevated areas, in confined spaces, kneeling, bending, twisting, squatting, pinching, gross and fine manipulation, reaching overhead, repeated hand/wrist motions; lift and carry 50 lb; maintain vision, hearing, and tactile functions; handle stressful situations; work rotating shifts, overtime, latex‑safe environment.
