Job Summary As a Critical Care Registered Nurse (RN) in the Intermediate Care (IMC) Unit, you will perform patient assessments, develop and implement care plans, and oversee delegated care.
Responsibilities
Perform and document patient assessments at admission.
Create a plan of care, including discharge plans, revise the plan based on patient response, and evaluate effectiveness.
Document outcomes of nursing interventions and patient responses.
Provide educational materials to patients and families on care and treatments.
Administer medications and complete treatments according to hospital policy.
Perform venipuncture, administer and maintain IV fluids and IV medications.
Review all new physician orders, ensure they are carried out and documented correctly, and verify that other departments are notified.
Provide accurate and relevant patient information reports to the Nurse Leader and to the incoming shift to ensure continuity of care.
Requirements Experience
1 year of clinical nursing experience as an RN in a Med/Surg unit.
Preferred: 1 year nursing experience in a Stepdown Unit.
Education
Associate’s degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program.
Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
License & Certifications
Current State of Texas RN license or Compact RN license (Texas license obtained within 90 days of hire).
Basic Life Support (BLS).
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
NIH Stroke Scale within 60 months of employment start date.
Advanced Trauma Care for Nurse, Trauma Care After Resuscitation, or Trauma Nursing Core Course within 60 months of employment start date.
