About the Role Up to $14K sign on bonus for qualified candidates.

The Registered Nurse (RN) functions primarily in direct patient care, demonstrates competent clinical practice, triages patients, obtains history and vital signs, assesses patients, initiates care in absence of a physician, provides care for acutely ill and non-acute patients, performs procedures, assists the physician, gives comfort, provides discharge and follow-up instructions, answers ambulance radios, gives pre‑hospital orders, works with sophisticated equipment, and handles various patients in a frequently stressful environment.

Responsibilities

Performs nursing assessments, intervenes appropriately and promptly, and participates in care planning.

Regularly assesses patients/clients needs and provides skilled nursing services as prescribed by physician authorized plan of care and accepted standards of nursing practice.

Processes physician/provider orders accurately, completely, and in a timely manner, and follows up regarding medication changes and order clarifications.

Evaluates effectiveness of treatment plan and makes suggestions or facilitates changes to improve patient care.

Actively participates in updating/revising the treatment plan in collaboration with other team members.

Uses physical assessment techniques (auscultation, percussion, palpation, observation) to identify patients’ physical problems and care needs.

Recognizes self‑limitations and seeks appropriate resources.

Possesses clinical competence in airway management, cardiac monitoring, IV therapy, blood gas analysis, venipuncture and physical assessment.

Reassesses patient health status and identifies significant changes.

Individualizes plan of care.

Coordinates prescribed plans with orders on the health care team.

Communicates pertinent aspects of care to patient, family, or other health care workers.

Initiates home health referrals when appropriate.

Sets priorities and implements nursing measures correlating with plan and standard of care.

Recognizes change in patient’s condition and takes action to manage symptoms and promote comfort.

Demonstrates respect for patient dignity and privacy.

Documents nursing intervention and patient response.

Maintains a safe patient environment and prevents risk situations.

Provides patient/family education and documents instructions.

Exhibits effective interpersonal skills with customers.

Assists peers in patient care activities.

Recognizes stress in others and uses positive coping techniques.

Is accountable for following medical center policy, procedures and attendance.

Demonstrates competency in Microsoft Windows and participates in further learning as required.

Qualifications & Credentials

ACLS: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (within 12 months of hire or transfer).

BLS: Basic Life Support (within 3 months of hire or transfer, AHA).

RN: Registered Nurse (within 3 months of hire or transfer).

TEAM ADVANCED: Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (within 6 months of hire or transfer; employees on or before 8/1/2024 have 24 months to complete).

Education Associate’s Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.

Experience, Training and Skills Knowledge of nursing skills normally acquired through 2 years of experience in a medical center or similar setting.

Mandatory TB testing as requested.

Mandatory OSHA training completed annually per Exposure Control Plan.

Physical/Mental Requirements & Typical Working Conditions Exposure to stressful situations, public contact, trauma, grief and death.

Must wear appropriate PPE including latex materials.

Must move freely around facility, with or without an assisted device, and perform job functions as outlined.

Overall vision and hearing necessary.

Often required to sit, stand or walk for long periods; may need to stoop, kneel or crouch.

May have frequent exposure to bloodborne pathogens and other infectious materials; must follow bloodborne pathogen and TB testing.

Must handle multiple tasks, work independently, maintain reliable attendance, and remain alert.

Requires dexterity for handling, reaching, grasping, fingering.

Physical Demand Level: Medium – lift 21‑50 lbs occasionally, 20 lbs frequently, 10 lbs constantly.
