Histotechnologist II – University of Arizona The Arizona Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (AzVLD) at the University of Arizona seeks a Histotechnologist II. The lab is part of the National Animal Health Laboratory Network (NAHLN) and provides diagnostic services and disease surveillance for the veterinary community of Arizona.

Duties & Responsibilities

Process tissue specimens: gross trimming, loading/unloading tissue processor, paraffin embedding, microtomy, slide preparation, staining (H&E and special stains), instrument use and hand staining, slides coverslipping, labeling.

Daily recordkeeping: trim sheets, specimen codes into the LIMS, maintain data and quality assurance tasks including SOP review.

Routine maintenance: clean work areas, maintain instruments, restock supplies.

Maintain specimen storage systems (blocks, slides) and disposal.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Pass the histotechnician certification (HT or HLT) within 12 months.

Effective communication with diverse groups.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning through experience.

Minimum 3 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate’s degree plus relevant work experience.

Employment Type: Full Time, 40 hours per week. Compensation: hourly rate $20.33–$25.41 (FLSA: non‑exempt). FLSA, Job FTE: 1.0.
