Pride Health is seeking a Histology Technician
to support our client’s laboratory in
Houston, TX 77030 . This is a full-time contract opportunity, ideal for a certified Histotechnician or Histotechnologist skilled in embedding, microtomy, staining, and high-volume histology workflows.
Job Summary The Histology Technician will perform a full range of routine and specialized histology procedures to support diagnostic pathology services. This role requires proficiency in specimen processing, embedding, sectioning, staining, and slide preparation while adhering to strict quality and turnaround time standards.
Key Responsibilities
Validate specimen identification, sample type, and adequacy according to laboratory protocols.
Prioritize and manage workflow to meet established turnaround times.
Operate tissue processors following correct solution sequences and programs per specimen type.
Embed tissue specimens and section ≥30 blocks per hour at appropriate thickness and slide counts.
Perform routine and special stains including AFB, MSN, Gram, and Oro per section procedures.
Multitask staining procedures to ensure productive and timely processing.
Coverslip slides at a minimum of 3 slides per minute and distribute completed slides to pathologists.
Assist with liver biopsies, FNAs, and retrieval of fresh specimens across designated hospital areas.
Perform inquiry and troubleshooting functions related to specimen numbers, results, and instrumentation.
Qualifications
HT(ASCP) or HTL(ASCP) Certification.
Associate’s degree in Science or Histology.
Experience in embedding, microtomy, routine staining, and special stains.
Ability to operate tissue processors, stainers, embedding centers, cryostats, microscopes, and centrifuges.
Strong communication skills, sound judgment, and basic computer proficiency.
Skills
Knowledge of hospital laboratory operations.
Ability to perform paraffin sectioning and special stains.
Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-volume laboratory environment.

Hours: 40 hours/week
