We are looking for a Peer Recovery Specialist at Riverside Health to provide peer support to patients, build relationships, offer education, and participate as a member of the treatment team.
Responsibilities
Provide non-clinical, person-centered, strengths-based, wellness-focused, and trauma-informed support. Build relationships with patients and offer education. Participate in treatment team meetings and check-ins. Help develop relapse prevention planning through group education, participation in treatment team meetings, and check-ins. Education Requirements
High School Diploma or Equivalent required. Additional education beyond a high school diploma that demonstrates a special interest in psychology or addiction treatment preferred. Training that demonstrates professional interest in ethics and counseling preferred. Certification / Licensure Requirements
Minimum: Certified Peer Recovery Specialist. Must complete DBHDS 72-Hour PRS Training if not already registered. Register as Registered Peer Recovery Specialist within 6 months of employment; demonstrate registration efforts at 90 days. Current BLS certification required within 30 calendar days of hire, maintained thereafter. Experience Requirements
Minimum of 2 years of personal recovery from mental illness and/or substance use disorder; 5 years preferred. Must become registered with the Department of Health Professions, Board of Counseling and maintain credential in good standing.
