Location: Danville, VA. Salary: $42,217 - $73,880 per year.
Responsibilities
Provide person‑centered, wellness‑focused support to engage individuals in treatment and promote the use of their personal wellness recovery plans.
Share your lived recovery experience to inspire hope, increase engagement in treatment, and support goal setting for wellness, recovery resilience, and self‑advocacy.
Work as part of the individual's treatment team, receive individual supervision, and collaborate with staff, hospitals, law enforcement, and community agencies.
Apply knowledge of mental illness and substance use disorder signs and symptoms to provide peer support, advocacy, and wellness rehabilitation.
Offer a range of services including outreach, monitoring, advocacy, daily living support, crisis intervention, family consultation, functional skills development, appropriate behavior coaching, and transportation as needed.
Participate in special events, conferences, workshops, and training within the mental health system and the broader community.
Document all contacts and activities in the individual's records.
Requirements Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
Must be, or have previously been, a recipient of mental health or substance use disorder services and be well along in recovery.
Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
Preferred Requirements
Certification as an Action Planning for Prevention and Recovery (APPR) Facilitator.
Certification and registration as a Peer Recovery Specialist.
Some college education.
Fingerprints, state and FBI criminal record reports, drug test, and central registry (CANIS) report will be required upon request. Our Agency maintains a drug‑free workplace.
Shift Differential: $2.00 for 2nd shift; $3.00 for 3rd shift; 3% increase for Registered Peer Recovery Specialists.
