POSITION SUMMARY: The Powder Blending Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the powder blending area within the ice cream manufacturing facility. This role ensures that all powdered ingredients are accurately blended according to product specifications, quality standards, and safety protocols. The supervisor leads a team of blending technicians and collaborates with quality assurance, maintenance, and production teams to maintain efficient and compliant operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise and coordinate activities of powder blending personnel across all shifts.
Ensure accurate weighing, measuring, and blending of powdered ingredients per batch sheets and formulations.
Monitor inventory levels of powders and ingredients; coordinate with warehouse and procurement teams for timely replenishment.
Maintain strict adherence to GMPs, HACCP, and food safety standards.
Conduct routine inspections of blending equipment and work areas to ensure cleanliness and operational readiness.
Train and mentor blending technicians on SOPs, safety procedures, and quality expectations.
Troubleshoot blending issues and collaborate with maintenance to resolve equipment malfunctions.
Maintain accurate production records, batch logs, and compliance documentation.
Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance blending efficiency and reduce waste.
Ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, and environmental standards.
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS: Education:
High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Manufacturing, or related field preferred.
Experience:
3+ years of experience in food manufacturing, preferably in dairy or ice cream production.
1+ years of supervisory or team lead experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong understanding of food safety regulations and quality control practices.
Proficient in using manufacturing software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Physical Requirements:
Environmental exposure to warehouses stored at ambient (60-70° F), refrigerated (35° F), and frozen (minus 20° F) temperatures.
Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for short distances on a regular basis.
Subject to up to at least 92 db’s.
Lifting: up to 20 lbs. occasionally.
Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, on a regular basis.
Reaching: Extending hands and arms in any direction.
Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist occasionally.
Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities that must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
