Regional Fiber Construction Supervisor

Reporting to the Construction Manager, the Regional Fiber Construction Supervisor plays a vital role in Construction’s leadership team, facilitating and governing field construction. This position will specifically direct and support the work of our underground, aerial and splicing construction crews throughout the region. Overseeing subcontractors and in-house teams to ensure operational processes, safety protocols and project standards are met.
Responsibilities
Maintain a safe environment and take a leadership role to ensure all safety standards are met
Responsible for meeting all completion dates based on the overall construction schedule, including the scheduling and management of construction inspections
Responsible for construction quality, inspection, and true up of quantities
Representing ITG on site walks or closeout activities with customers and permitting authorities
Must be able to identify and document issues that will cause delays and apply innovative solutions which are relayed to leadership
Strong attention to quality construction practices and ensuring timely close out and delivery of the project schedule
Responsible for documenting all production completed daily and obtain sign off by the crew(s)
Monitor performance, provide guidance, and enforce compliance with company policies and project specifications
Promptly communicate any performance issues or employee concerns to the Construction Manager for a timely resolution and to maintain team effectiveness
Responsible for properly documenting construction utility strikes
Responsible for material receipt and disbursements
Practices Company safety policies and procedures and ensures they are followed
Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance
Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary
Travel required based on project needs – maximum (4) weeks on, (1) week remote work. Per diem is provided for meals and incidental expenses during travel.

Requirements Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
2-5 Years Technical experience splicing and troubleshooting fiber
2-5 Years Supervisory with steady work history preferred
Must have strong knowledge in OSP construction techniques and practices (underground and aerial placement)
Familiarity with typical traffic control setups per the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD)
Must have strong knowledge of industry standard fiber splicing techniques and practices
Two years of direct experience directing and managing OSP construction and inspection crews
Willingness to learn new skills, software, and technologies
Excellent verbal and written communication
Excellent organizational skills
Proficiency in MS Office Products, and Google Earth
Valid driver’s license
Forklift experience is a plus
Skills/Abilities:
Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel, Smartsheet
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to prioritize and organize effectively
Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks
Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure
Ability to manage emergencies and rapidly changing priorities, and to effectively direct the work activities of others under all work conditions
Ability to supervise and motivate others
Ability to work independently
Ability to read and understand construction drawings
Ability to read, edit and understand fiber optic designs and/or schematics
Knowledge of the physical construction and design of aerial and underground of cable plant including coax & fiber
Basic knowledge of various fiber cable builds (FTTU, MDU/SDU, Nodes, Metro-E, etc)
Basic knowledge of the operation of a signal level meter, OTDR and optical light meters.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds is required
Valid driver's license and clean driving record
