OSP Construction Superintendent (Eau Claire, WI) AIP3909 – ITG Communications, LLC.

The OSP Construction Superintendent plays a critical leadership role within the OSP Construction team, supporting the Construction Manager in overseeing all field construction activities. This position is responsible for ensuring that aerial, underground, and splicing construction crews perform work safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. The Superintendent manages the day‑to‑day operations of construction supervisors and inspectors, ensuring projects are completed on schedule, within scope, and in compliance with customer and company standards.

Responsibilities

Maintain a safe work environment and ensure all safety standards and procedures are followed.

Oversee the daily activities of OSP Construction Supervisors and field crews engaged in aerial, underground, and splicing work.

Interact daily with clients and customers, providing progress updates, trackers, and attending on‑site meetings and presentations.

Manage and coordinate construction inspections and internal inspection teams.

Ensure construction quality and accuracy in inspection reports, footage, quantities, and subcontractor invoices.

Represent the company during on‑site walks, pre‑construction meetings, and project closeouts with subcontractors, customers, and permitting authorities; identify and address potential construction bottlenecks early to prevent project delays.

Monitor and report resource availability, inspector hours, and construction status to the Construction Manager.

Uphold ITG’s commitment to high‑quality, safe, and timely project execution.

Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the OSP field operations.

Exposure

Field‑based role with regular travel to project sites.

Exposure to outdoor construction environments, varying weather, and moderate noise levels.

May require work outside normal business hours, including evenings or weekends, to meet project deadlines.

Must comply with all ITG and OSHA safety standards and procedures.

Strong leadership presence in the field and commitment to team development.

Ability to anticipate construction challenges and implement proactive solutions.

Attention to detail, quality, and accuracy in every aspect of construction oversight.

Commitment to maintaining a positive customer experience and professional communication.

Ability to multitask and prioritize in a dynamic, project‑based environment.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, and work outdoors for extended periods in various weather conditions.

Capability to lift and carry materials or equipment up to 50 pounds as needed.

Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and reaching during site inspections.

Visual acuity for reading construction drawings, maps, and digital displays.

Manual dexterity required for using tools, devices, and computers.

Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hat, safety vest, gloves, and protective eyewear.

Education High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

Experience

Minimum of 5 years of experience in OSP telecommunications construction, with demonstrated expertise in both underground and aerial placement methods.

Extensive experience in fiber optic construction, including installation, splicing, and testing.

General knowledge of fiber fusion splicing techniques required.

Proven ability to lead field teams and coordinate with multiple stakeholders in a fast‑paced construction environment.

Experience managing subcontractors, inspections, and construction documentation.
