(North Canton, OH) – full‑time, Monday‑Friday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.
Position Summary The Athletic Trainer (ATC) assists physicians and/or mid‑level providers in the clinic, hospital, and DME departments. Key responsibilities include fitting and educating patients on Durable Medical Equipment (DME), applying and removing casts, coordinating DME program logistics, servicing equipment, and assisting with special procedures. The ATC acts as liaison among staff, physicians, and DME supervisors and manages office maintenance tasks such as cleaning, sterilizing, and restocking exam rooms.
Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities
Ensure patient forms are complete, current, and entered into the EMR; review progress notes and stat orders and prepare charge tickets.
Enter DME charges with correct modifiers and maintain inventory in the DME system.
Obtain authorizations from insurance companies; verify patient insurance benefits and explain coverage per DME guidelines.
Fit patients with prescribed orthoses, conduct evaluations, modifications, and training on fit and function, and answer DME questions.
Sponsor DME appointments; send referrals and coordinate vendor services based on insurance restrictions to secure equipment for patients.
Provide backup coverage and assist the office with daily routines when needed.
Maintain office and clinical equipment, order supplies within budget, sterilize rooms, and report repairs to management.
Assist physicians and physician assistants with special procedures – prepare instruments, position patients, and respond to provider instructions; remove dressings, apply casts and splints.
Deliver patient education on physicians’ plans of care; ensure charge tickets are marked and supplies given to patients.
Attend in‑services and departmental meetings; perform any other duties assigned.
Position Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training or a related field from an accredited university athletic‑training program.
Experience: 3–5 years of demonstrated experience as an Athletic Trainer or related field preferred.
License: Current license issued by the OT/PT/AT Board to practice Athletic Training in Ohio required.
Certification: Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers preferred; BLS required.
Technical Skills: None specified.
Schedule: Monday–Friday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (Full‑time, 40 hours per week).
