Compensation & Travel
Traveler Hourly Rate: $24.53
Gross Wages: $883.08
Traveler Lodging: $924.00
Travel M&I: $560.00
Total Travel Stipend: $1,484.00
Total Travel Package: $2,637.08
Blended Rate: $73.25
Duties
Provide expert perioperative nursing care for high‑complexity cardiac surgeries (CABG, valve repair/replacement, aortic procedures, etc.).
Function as a primary circulating nurse in cardiac OR cases with advanced autonomy.
Scrub for specialized cardiac procedures when needed.
Prepare and verify all cardiac OR equipment, instruments, and supplies, including perfusion‑related items.
Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia, perfusionists, and the OR team to ensure safe workflow.
Manage invasive lines, drips, blood products, and hemodynamic monitoring needs during procedures.
Perform advanced assessment and anticipate surgeon and team needs throughout the case.
Maintain strict sterile technique and enforce sterility standards.
Assist with specimen handling, implants, and accurate surgical counts.
Respond rapidly to intraoperative complications or emergent conversions.
Ensure accurate documentation of intraoperative events, medications, and implants in the EMR.
Mentor, support, and precept junior nurses and staff in the cardiac OR.
Participate in cardiac program initiatives, quality improvement, and process optimization.
Demonstrate high‑level critical thinking, leadership, and independent clinical judgment.
Uphold all patient safety, infection‑control, and regulatory standards in a high‑acuity surgical environment.
Qualifications
Minimum one year (12 months) of experience as a RN Cardiac OR
Valid and current license issued by the state of NY
Valid and current CPR card (American Heart Association)
Proficiency in the English language is necessary for communication with other staff and patients.
