Job Summary
A registered professional nurse employed by Erlanger Medical Center is responsible for direct and/or indirect care of the patient. Ability to assess patients, select, develop, implement and evaluate a plan of care. Ability to administer pharmacological drugs as ordered, perform procedures and operate equipment necessary for patient care as assigned.
Education
Required: Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.

Experience
Required: Knowledge of general nursing principles and practice skills; knowledge of organizational functions, regulations, current trends and new developments; knowledge of principles and practices of nursing applicable to areas requiring special education.

Position Requirements
Required: Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Tennessee.
Required: BLS completed prior to going to unit/department and maintained going forward.
Required: ACLS required.
Required: Must hold a Tennessee nursing license; for non‑Tennessee residents, a Tennessee license (or a multistate compact license) must be obtained within three months of hire.
Department Position Summary The Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for the assessment, documentation, and evaluation of the plan of care for the patient during the perioperative phase of surgery. The candidate demonstrates the ability to prioritize duties and responsibilities, works collaboratively with medical, anesthesia, managerial, and clinical staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes, and demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development across the lifespan. The nurse provides care appropriate to the age of patients served, interprets patient data to identify age‑specific needs, and contributes to nursing and the Medical Center through support of the philosophy and objectives. Competency is evaluated through direct observation, skills labs, peer review, or self‑assessment based on objective criteria.
