7:45 a.m. to 8:15 p.m. (Various US locations)

Location:

2220 Vernon Rd St, LaGrange, GA 30240

Facility operating hours:

Open seven days a week, 365 days a year

Job Summary The Medical Assistant functions under the direction of the Physician, Clinical Lead, Clinical Nurse Supervisor, Nurse Supervisor and/or Office Manager. Recognizes patient's needs and symptoms in advance, provides care under the physician's direction, prepares patients for exams, assists during treatments, coordinates tests and follow-up care, records treatment, explains patient instructions, and serves patients of all ages.

Core Responsibilities And Essential Functions Clinical and Non-Clinical Duties and Expectations

Register patient upon entrance to facility

Perform all necessary registration operations

Prepare equipment and rooms and aid physician with treatment of patients

Perform vitals and other duties to prep patients

Rotate among various clinical and non-clinical service areas such as lab, x‑ray, and front office

Ensure main safety needs of the patient

Cross‑train other team members

Diagnostic Imaging Duties and Expectations

Perform radiographic and other diagnostic imaging procedures to assist clinical team and physicians

Prepare and position patients for imaging procedures ensuring proper techniques and radiation protection

Obtain optimum views as ordered by the physician

Process images and review for correct identification and quality control

Cross‑train other team members

Complete and maintain logs, reports, and documentation

Laboratory Duties and Expectations

Start lab equipment daily and maintain daily logs and documentation

Perform laboratory tests according to orders and instructions

Draw blood samples from patients and perform point‑of‑care testing

Order and stock supplies weekly

Perform daily quality control and cleaning procedures according to guidelines

Cross‑train other team members

Patient Liaison

Provide relationship‑based patient‑centered care consistent with population‑specific characteristics

Partner with patients, significant others, and/or family using appropriate methods (eg. huddles, interdisciplinary rounds)

Practice current clinical practice standards

Team Work and Collaboration

Coordinate delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care that promotes a professional care delivery model

Demonstrate teamwork and collaboration in a fiscally responsible manner and promote the recruitment and retention of all healthcare team members

Professional Development and Initiative

Complete all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments, mandatory education, and population‑specific education

Serve as a preceptor for onboarding Medical Assistants/students and model professionalism and a healthy work environment

Evidence Based Practice and Research

Promote evidence‑based practice and participate in activities such as value analysis

Uphold all health care system policies, clinical competencies, legal, regulatory and accreditation requirements, including TJC Patient Safety Goals and WellStar Health Systems safety absolutes; may serve as a practice Safety Coach

Participate in data collection, pose relevant clinical questions, consult appropriate experts, and use resources and evidence to address practice questions

Resources and Support

Proactively plan for patient care across the continuum during direct patient care

Participate in developing protocols and procedures when called upon or through self‑initiation with care managers and other members of the health care team to achieve best practice outcomes

Support efficient and effective use of human and material resources

Compliance

Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct

Required Minimum Education

High School Diploma or GED

Medical Assisting Certificate

Required Minimum License(s) And Certification(s)

Certified Medical Assistant

Basic Life Support or BLS Instructor

Additional License(s) And Certification(s)

Phlebotomy certification within 60 days (Preferred)

OSHA training course for operators of radiology equipment within 60 days (Required)

Medical Assistant credentialing body examination (AAMA, AMT) upon hire (Required)

Required Minimum Experience

Work experience in a practice setting (Preferred)

Radiology experience (Preferred)

Required Minimum Skills

Organized and attentive to detail

Work quickly and efficiently to assure patient comfort and satisfaction

Communicate and understand verbal and written English; optimize use of technology to support clinical care; basic computer skills

Adhere to the WellStar Credo and Code of Conduct
