Required License/Registration/Certification:

Active Kentucky Registered Nurse (RN) license, Temporary Work Permit ( TWP ), Provisional License or active compact state Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing and American Heart Association ( AHA ) Basic Life Support certification valid for at least 6 months after employment date.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50-100 pounds daily and 25-50 pounds frequently; stand, walk, sit for long periods; exposure to communicable diseases, hazards of radiation, injury from intractable patients or sharp instruments.

Shift:

Must work three 12‑hour shifts (Days – 7AM-730PM or Nights – 7P-730AM), 36 hours/week, with some weekend and holiday work.

Job Summary:

Registered Nurses in the Adult Medicine Services Pavilion provide care for moderately stable adult patients with fluctuating acuity and complex needs. Responsibilities include frequent assessment of pulmonary, renal, cardiac, vascular, and neurological conditions, progressive care, telemetry, and medical/surgical monitoring. The RN serves as a key member of the interdisciplinary progressive care team, monitoring patient physiologic status and providing a safe transition from intensive to progressive/acute care. Primary duties: comprehensive patient-centered care, planning, implementing, teaching, delegating tasks, and adhering to university policies and regulations.

Knowledge of Maslow’s needs, Gordon’s functional health patterns, Swanson’s Caring model; direct patient care and critical thinking; basic computer navigation and internet use; professional communication with patients, families, coworkers, and physicians; strong organization, prioritization, delegation; proactive advocacy; teamwork and independent work capacity.

Preferred Education / Experience:

BSN + at least 1 year of RN experience preferred.
