Cardiac Sonographer

Job Summary Prepare patients, perform ultrasound tests based on physicians’ orders and department protocols, and provide high‑quality diagnostic information while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
Responsibilities
Explain procedures to patients, respond to questions, and review medical records for pertinent history.
Utilize equipment and accessories, employing techniques to comfort and protect the patient while ensuring consistent results.
Perform equipment maintenance, calibration, and cleaning per manufacturer’s guidelines.
Deliver patient care to all age groups while performing ultrasound exams, procedures, and special procedures.
Act as liaison between patient and physician.
Perform basic patient‑care functions and respond to emergencies within scope of authority.
Maintain accurate patient records and advise nursing staff of significant changes during procedures.
Review and compile clinical data for physician interpretation and ensure diagnostic quality.
Perform incidental office duties—including answering phone, scheduling, filing, maintaining records, and ordering supplies.
Participate in ordering and inventorying equipment and supplies.
Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and effective communication with diverse patient populations.
Perform related duties as required.
Shift & Hours Full time (PRN) – Days shift, no more than 40 hours per week.
Location In person.
Pay $47.86 – $74.26 per hour.
Job Requirements
Education/Experience
– Graduation from an accredited diagnostic ultrasound/echo sonography program; one year of post‑graduate cardiac ultrasound experience preferred.
Job Knowledge & Abilities
– Knowledge of diagnostic sonographic principles, equipment operation, regulatory requirements, department protocols, medical terminology, and cardiac examination techniques; ability to perform procedures in compliance with standards and to assist physicians.
Demonstrated organization, time‑management, and communication skills; ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Licensure & Certification
Current registration by ARDMS or current certification by Cardiovascular Credentialing International as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS).
Current healthcare provider BLS certification.
