First-time traveler- Upon Review
Patient Types
Neonates to geriatrics, various types of illnesses, majority of patients are adults
Patient Ratios
1-5, up to 6 rarely (acuity based)
Required Certifications
BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC, PALS, De-escalation training (MOAB or CPI)
Skills required
General ED skillset, chest tubes, drips, IV starts, phlebotomy, EKGs, cardiac rhythm interpretation
Support on the Unit
CNA (Ratio – 1:12)
Charge nurse: does this person have patient load? No titled Charge RN in the ED
Phlebotomy team? ED RN’s will perform phlebotomy at the bedside
Resource Nurse, Lead RN functions as a resource
RT – in house 24/7? Yes
Hospitalist – in house 24/7? Yes
Bedside and Nursing station telemetry – no tele tech

1 shift on the unit to learn the flow
Scheduling
Weekend rotation? Yes, every other
Can we approve time off? (typically we are able to approve up to 7 days without approval) Yes,But consideration should also be given to staffing needs of the department.

Holiday Expectations: varies, based on unit need
