About The Position As an Operating Room Registered Nurse, you’ll provide direct patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures. You will collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective surgical outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Pre‑operative preparation: assess patient histories, verify consent, review medications, and prepare patients physically and emotionally for surgery.
Intra‑operative nursing care: assist in preparing the OR environment, maintain sterile conditions, monitor vital signs, and assist with anesthesia induction and maintenance.
Surgical assistance and instrumentation: anticipate surgeon needs, pass instruments, sutures, and supplies, and maintain sterile technique.
Patient advocacy and safety: advocate for patient safety and comfort, address concerns, and adhere to protocols.
Post‑operative care and monitoring: transfer patients to PACU, monitor vital signs, assess incisions, apply dressings, manage drainage, and provide pain management.
Documentation and communication: maintain accurate documentation of events, medications, and responses, and communicate updates to the team.
Continuing education and professional development: stay current with surgical techniques and nursing practices, and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
