Certified Surgical Technologist First Assistant
Under the supervision of the surgeon, the CST‑FA performs first assistant duties during the surgical procedure. In addition, the CST‑FA also performs as a Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room as needed. The role requires maintaining accountability for the provision of surgical instruments to the surgical team, coordinating the care of the surgical patient with other team members, and upholding patient rights and confidentiality. All duties are performed in accordance with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of Surgical Technologist scrub experience.
Education: Surgical Technology experience, or a degree in Surgical Technology, or completion of a certification from an accredited surgical technology program (preferred).
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association.
