Job Summary & Qualifications Under the direct supervision of the House Supervisor, and in accordance with hospital policies and procedures, the RN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for assigned patients.

Experience:

Minimum 2 years recent experience in two areas of hospital nursing patient care.

Optional 1‑3 or 3‑7 years preferred.

Education:

Associate degree in Nursing (required for hires after 05/01/2020; Bachelor’s degree preferred).

Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or an active compact license. Full‑time, part‑time, and PRN colleagues with a compact license from a state other than Texas must apply for a Texas RN license within 60 days of hire and obtain it within 6 months.

Required Certifications (Upon Hire)

Current BLS certification per St. David’s Healthcare Policy.

Annual NIHSS certification per St. David’s Healthcare Policy.

Current ACLS/ALS for Healthcare Providers per St. David’s Healthcare Policy.

For all Registered Nurses caring for stroke patients: annual NIHSS, 8 hours of stroke education per year, and completion of the mandatory stroke core measure module on HealthStream.

Preferred Certification in a specialty area is preferred.
