Nutritionist – Services for the Under-Served
Position Overview
Services for the Under-Served (S:US) is seeking a part‑time Nutritionist for our adult families’ shelter in Manhattan. This consulting position requires approximately 5–8 hours per week and is located at 12 E. 31st Street, New York, NY 10016.
Key Responsibilities
Manages ongoing nutrition services that meet the needs of the client population by valuating client nutritional needs at the facility.
Actively participates in the interdisciplinary patient care process providing recommendations and education based on nutrition expertise.
Researches the effects of nutrition on health and fitness.
Remains abreast of current research in areas of expertise through networking and continuing education activities.
Collaborates with the Food Service Manager on nutritional management for clients.
Assists on menu preparation.
Reviews menus to assure they are in alignment with the NYC DOH food standards.
Ensures nutritional guidelines are met for all clients with special food needs.
Qualifications
Baccalaureate degree in Nutrition or related field from an accredited college. Master’s degree preferred.
Active Registered Dietitian (R.D.) credential with the American Dietetic Association.
Minimum of two years of clinical nutrition experience.
Demonstrated depth of clinical nutrition knowledge and ability to work independently within the care environment.
