Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - Outpatient Behavioral Health Clinic The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) plays a key role in supporting patients and providers within our outpatient Behavioral Health Clinic. This position assists with clinical and administrative tasks that help ensure safe, efficient, and compassionate care. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, the CMA helps create a supportive environment for patients while contributing to smooth clinic flow and high‑quality behavioral health services.

Pay & Benefits

Compensation $21.07 to $30.34 hourly wage based on experience and education

Schedule

Full‑time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Responsibilities

Prepare patients for exam and treatment by taking and recording vital signs, symptoms, and other necessary measurements, documenting chief complaints and pain scores. Report any conditions that may indicate a change in the patient's condition to the clinician.

Assist providers with exams and minor in‑office procedures, including taking blood pressure, documenting respiration and heart rate/pulse, taking temperature, ear irrigation, and performing EKGs. Act as chaperone as needed. Use universal blood and body fluid precautions and personal protective equipment. Prioritize patient flow through the clinical process.

Coordinate and manage patient care, including pre‑certifications, authorizations, prescriptions, and scheduling. Communicate test results to patients and serve as a resource for clinicians to provide optimal care. May administer medications according to established policies and procedures or as directed.

Provide clerical support, including patient/client notifications and documentation, completing medical records, labs, authorizations, X‑rays, hospital records, and other care information. Provide timely billing information.

Maintain a clean, functional environment, including cleaning and disinfecting equipment, exam rooms, and storage areas. Disinfect equipment using appropriate solutions, following sterilization procedures and OSHA guidelines.

Perform basic equipment maintenance and coordinate needed repairs.

Order supplies and stock patient care areas. Monitor inventory, including medication/injectables and immunizations.

Develop and maintain effective communication with internal and external customers, exemplifying service orientation and behaviors in all contacts.

Complete all onboarding, orientation activities, including simulation training, as required or directed.

Qualifications

High school diploma/GED or equivalent. Knowledge normally obtained through graduation from an accredited medical assisting program.

Completion of an approved medical assistant training program as defined by state regulations.

Medical Assistant Certification or Medical Assistant Registration is required.

Current BLS certification.

1 year of medical clerical experience, preferably in a hospital or physician office setting, or prior customer service experience.

Excellent organizational skills and effective human relations and communication skills.

Working knowledge of medical terminology and computer literacy, including keyboarding skills.

Ability to operate effectively in a fast‑moving, team‑based environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Recent healthcare experience preferred.
