Overview We are seeking a capable

Medical Assistant / MA Coordinator

who has broad experience in patient care and a sound understanding of neurosurgery‑related patient needs.

Responsibilities

Perform assigned patient care and observation duties under the direction of a licensed provider, RN, or LPN.

Execute routine and complex medical‑assistant clinical duties, including taking vital signs, administering a limited profile of medications per Emory Clinic policy, performing diagnostic tests, collecting specimens, drawing blood, sterilizing equipment, and maintaining examination rooms.

Promote a supportive and healing environment to enhance customer and staff satisfaction.

Assist in emergency situations as directed by a licensed provider, RN, or LPN.

Maintain a clean and healthy environment per Universal Precautions guidelines and safety standards.

Order, verify, and store unit supplies.

Handle patient and practice administrative duties such as patient check‑in/out, chart preparation, POS collection, scheduling appointments, uploading imaging and records, pre‑certification for procedures, Zendesk requests, bump list, answering calls, and charge entry admin pool messages.

Perform duties and patient interaction in accordance with Emory Healthcare patient and family‑centered care standards.

May participate in research projects impacting patient care areas.

Perform other related responsibilities as required.

Required Certifications and Qualifications

Medical Assistant certification from NHA, NCCT, AAMA, or AMT.

Current BLS from the American Heart Association upon hire.

High School Diploma or GED.

Basic computer skills.

One year of work experience preferred.

Current AHA BLS certification required for hire and must be maintained during employment.

Current certification as Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from AAMA, Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from AMT, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) from NHA, or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) from NCCT. Preferred CMA or RMA.

Must successfully complete all medical‑assistant orientation, training requirements, and annual skills competency.

Travel Requirements Employee will need to travel to Emory Decatur Neurosurgery Clinic at least one day per week (could increase). Home base will be at the Emory Midtown Neurosurgery Clinic.
