Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level II Ambulatory Surgery Operating Room position requiring a WI or compact RN license, BLS, ACLS, and strong OR experience.
Responsibilities
Work in an ambulatory (outpatient) surgery OR setting within an acute care hospital
Level II trauma environment with 10 OR suites and 2 procedure rooms
Typical caseload includes 40-50 cases daily in specialties such as ortho, GGU, ENT, and ophthalmology
Scheduled shifts are 8 hours, with start times of 0645-1515 or 0900-1730, including two late shifts per week on average
Self-scheduling offers preferred late days and preferred day off if under 1.0 FTE
No call, weekend, holiday, or night shift responsibilities
Floating to inpatient OR within the campus as needed
Cerner EMR in use, transitioning to Epic; EMR experience preferred
Scrubs are provided by the unit
Responsibilities include circulating in a busy ambulatory OR serving a diverse surgical population
Charge nurse duties are shared among two RNs who rotate between patient care and managing OR board
Unit-specific orientation is 3-5 days, typically kept to 3 days
Staff are required to clock in and out at the facility
Local candidates within 80 miles are eligible but will receive a reduced rate
Returning travelers or former staff must meet separation guidelines
No scrubbing required for RNs, though experience is helpful
Requirements
Active WI or compact RN license required by start date
Current BLS (AHA) and ACLS (AHA) certifications required
Minimum of 2 years recent operating room nursing experience required
Strong overall OR skills with preferred experience in ortho (total joints, scopes, fractures, podiatry)
Two recent professional references required, including one from a supervisor
Former permanent employees must have separated at least 6 months prior and require approval for rehire
