Responsibilities
Opened in 2010, Palmdale Regional Medical Center is a 184‑bed acute‑care hospital located in Palmdale, CA. One of Southern California’s newest hospitals and featuring all‑private patient rooms, Palmdale Regional provides high‑quality, award‑winning patient care to residents and visitors of the Antelope Valley and surrounding areas.
Under the supervision of the Charge Nurse and/or Department Manager, the Patient Care Tech is a member of the Pre‑operative team and monitors all patients in the Surgery Department. The Tech supports procurement of equipment, room set‑up, turnover, patient transports, transfers, resupply of sterile and non‑sterile supplies, and other duties as directed. The Tech projects a good public image and is a self‑motivating individual who maintains a courteous and professional attitude.
Qualifications
Ability to read, speak and write English for communication and charting purposes. Ability to write reports. Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from managers, patients and the general public.
Ability to apply, measure and understand the concept of electrical impulse timing, and use the appropriate tools.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to work under supervision and follow instructions. Pleasant telephone manners and neat, legible handwriting.
Minimum of one year of prior Patient Care Tech experience in a health‑care setting preferred. Thorough computer and interpersonal skills.
High school diploma or equivalent. Medical terminology course preferred. Computer education preferred.
Current BLS certification.
CPI is required within 30 days of hire.
