Job Description Patient Access Registrar’s primary responsibilities are:

Gather all pertinent patient information.

Accurately admit / register or pre‑admit patients.

Pre‑certify all applicable admissions / pre‑admissions.

Obtain signatures on all appropriate admission forms.

Verify patient benefits / eligibility and enter information into the hospital’s information system.

Estimate and collect all co‑pays / deductibles owed to the hospital to meet departmental requirements.

Identify and refer patients to the financial assistance department at MMH.

Provide a full range of insurance verification functions as requested by management.

Because the Patient Access Registrar acts as the hospital’s primary entry point into the system, all duties are completed in a manner consistent with the highest quality of guest relations, resulting in a positive experience for patients and their families. The position also requires accountability for admitting / registering and providing verbal directions to patients and/or family members in neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric age groups, demonstrating appropriate skills to understand and react effectively to their needs.

Shift & Schedule Full‑time; Monday‑Friday 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, with occasional weekends.

Essential Functions / Performance Expectations

Accurately complete data entry tasks for new and established patients.

Accurately complete insurance verification tasks.

Complete Medicare Secondary Payer information.

Adhere to department policies and procedures.

Accurately complete financial counseling responsibilities.

Accurately complete admissions paperwork.

Education & Experience

High school graduate or equivalent.

Stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, see, speak, and hear.

Lifting is limited to 35 lbs. for clinical staff and 50 lbs. for non‑clinical staff. An assisted‑lift device or assistance from another individual is required for lifts over these limits.
