Moffitt Cancer Center’s Head and Neck Cancer Program is a uniquely specialized group offering individualized treatment for malignancies of the head and neck. With our team of skilled surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, endocrinologists, radiologists and supportive care professionals – all of whom only treat head and neck cancers – we take a truly integrative approach to treatment, enabling patients to consult with numerous experts through a single referral. In addition, for the first time ever, Moffitt Cancer Center’s Head & Neck Program has been ranked #29 for Best Hospitals for Ear, Nose & Threat by US News & World Report rankings. Our Head & Neck Clinic cares for 50 patients daily. We are currently looking for a RN Advisor (Triage RN) to be part of our work family. Shifts are 4 days a week, Monday through Friday, no weekends, no holidays and no on call.
Position Highlights
The RN Advisor uses the nursing process to effectively plan and manage patient care by providing individualized, quality nursing care to cancer patients and family members over the phone, in accordance with established Cancer Center guidelines, nursing care standards, and Moffitt Clinic policies.
Using the concepts of Duffy's Quality Caring Model, the RN Advisor ensures calls are answered promptly and accurately while assessing patient's urgent signs and symptoms.
The RN Advisor provides nursing interventions, acts as a liaison with the clinical team and documents assessment and interventions in the EHR.
The Ideal Candidate The Ideal Candidate Will Have The Following Qualifications
At least 2 years of experience in Oncology as a Registered Nurse
Ambulatory Clinic/Physician private nursing experience
Med Surge experience
Head & Neck patient care experience
OCN or ACON certification
Call center experience
Responsibilities
Answer calls using Moffitt Promise Guidelines (AIDET), the quality caring factors, and the nursing process to assess the patient's issue, plan and properly evaluate the care.
Complete, accurate and timely nursing documentation.
Exercise clinical judgment and decision making. Recognizes emergencies and takes appropriate action.
Identify, document and provide accurate and appropriate patient education.
Participate in evidence based improvement activities related to area of practice. Participate in professional development based on the nursing professional standards, regulatory requirements and job expectations.
Credentials and Qualifications
BSN from an ACEN or CCNE accredited institution with at least one year of relevant experience or ASN from an ACEN or CCNE accredited institution with 1 year of relevant experience
FL RN License
BLS Certification
