Histology Technologist/UKHC

Job Summary Busy academic medical center seeks an experienced histotechnologist to perform routine histology duties, including embedding, microtomy, staining, and special stains. The role ensures high‑quality slides of diverse tissues are submitted timely, operating processors, stainers, and slide printer, and filing slides and blocks. The successful candidate will maintain confidentiality, adhere to safety standards, collaborate with team members, demonstrate exceptional customer service, and interact with physicians, patients, residents, visitors, and staff. Attention to detail is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Perform routine histology duties: embedding, microtomy, staining, and special stains.

Operate processors, stainers, and slide printer; file slides and tissue blocks.

Maintain confidentiality and adhere to laboratory safety standards.

Work collaboratively with team members and provide outstanding customer service to clinicians and patients.

Required Qualifications

Associate’s degree (AS) or equivalent.

Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.

No required licensing or certification.

Physical ability to lift, push, and pull objects/patients up to 50 lbs.; sit and stand for long periods; tolerate exposure to bloodborne/airborne pathogens, chemicals, fumes; perform repetitive motions at least half the time; risk of back injury.

Full‑time shift: 40 hours/week with rotation; holiday and weekend calls required.

Preferred Qualifications

HT or HTL certification.

Experience with Epic Beaker.
